The Personal Data Protection Law came into our lives on April 7, 2016! It was a very necessary structure in our digital world. Verbis, as healthcare professionals, how will we register with the VERBIS system? Should we register?
VERBIS is a state-established system that real and legal persons who process personal data must register. Moreover, it is public, so as citizens, we can easily find out who processes which of our data.
For many transactions in our daily lives, we share a lot of information such as identity information, credit card information, health data, judicial data, bank account information, camera images, photos, IP address information, and location, which belong to us.
As healthcare providers, we collect a lot of information for our patients and consultants. Therefore, as clinics and doctors, we must register on Verbis.
According to Article 6 of the Law, personal health, sexual life, biometric, and genetic data of individuals are considered 'personal data of special nature'. Data controllers whose main activity is processing 'personal data of special nature' must register with the Data Controllers' Registry (VERBIS) and take special precautions.

Due to the decision of the institution, data controllers in the healthcare sector must complete their compliance processes and register with VERBIS by March 31, 2021.
According to Article 6 of the law and related regulations:
The registration is done through the KVKK website. After entering the site, click on the VERBIS button on the right to start the registration process.
First, you must register on the system. By clicking on the 'Data Controller Manager Login' button on the website, proceed with the 'Register' button.
Select the appropriate option in the displayed screen for registration. Fill in the required information, submit the application form with wet signature to the institution. Alternatively, sending it to the institution's kep address is sufficient.
It is recommended to use the kep address as it eliminates the hassle of sending documents and is very fast.
After your application is evaluated, you will be provided with a username and password securely via the specified email address. Then, an contact person is assigned by entering the system and completing the important step of saving the required information in VERBIS via the E-Government channel.
